Despite having a contract with the player until the summer of 2025, Metizport parted ways with Tim “susp” Ångström.
Susp Leaves Metizport
It is not often that esports players would leave their organization shortly after entering it, especially if they already have a long contract. However, this is what seems to have happened with Metizport’s Tim “susp” Ångström. The Norwegian organization recently announced it has removed susp from its starting CS2 lineup.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise, considering the 19-year-old player was signed by Metizport just a few months ago. Not only that, but he originally had a contract that was supposed to last until the summer of 2025.
Metizport thanked the player for his work in the team and also wished him all the best in his future endeavors. The organization also stated they could be contacted regarding questions about susp’s situation. Finally, Metizport explained they will soon give information about the future of the roster.
Susp joined his now-former organization in December alongside Erik “ztr” Gustafsson after a short-lived stint on 00NATION’s lineup. During his time in Metizport, the player averaged a 1.07 rating which offered him the opportunity to reunite with his twin brother, Adam “adamb” Ångström. “Didn’t expect this move at all but I wish all my former teammates and Metizport good luck,” susp said of the situation, explaining he is now looking for a new team.
Why Remove Susp So Early?
Although not a particularly high result, susp’s stats aren’t necessarily too bad to prompt his removal from the main lineup. Also, considering he is a very young player, he has a lot of potential and growth ahead of himself, further adding questions as to why Metizport decided on the roster change.
“Big shoutout to susp for all the hard work he put in with us,” further said coach Ahmed “abdi” Abdi about the player’s departure. “It wasn’t an easy call, but we believe it’s the best move for the team’s progress. We thank susp for his time with us and wish him all the best in his bright future.”
But perhaps this is part of the organization’s future plans for development. As coach abdi suggested, the decision to remove the player was not easy, but apparently, there are already talks regarding a replacement for the roster that should be finalized soon.
The team has steadily climbed through the ranks since the start of the year, spending two weeks at No.29 between March and April. Last month, they attended Global Esports Tour Rio, where Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora filled in for star player Linus “nilo” Bergman as the team finished in 7th-8th place. Time will tell if Metizport’s upcoming player will help the team achieve greater heights.
