  • The Russian AWPer is back in action after a year on the sidelines
  • He replaces Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi in HEROIC’s lineup
  • Some wonder if degster can still perform as he once did

HEROIC have added a valuable new player in the face of former OG AWPer Abdul “degster” Gasanov who sports a formidable 1.20 rating.

Degster Joins HEROIC’s Squad

Russian CS2 player degster has been on OG’s sidelines since he was benched in June 2023. It’s been more than a year since he played his last match on May 10 at the Paris Major. However, he is now ready to enter active play with a thunder after HEROIC signed him as their new AWPer.

The 22-year-old player takes the role from Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi, who recently sat on the bench, The Danish player’s departure from the main roster follows HEROIC’s period of stagnation following a top eight at IEM Katowice and qualification for the PGL Major in Copenhagen previously.

Degster’s first match as part of HEROIC’s roster is set to happen at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade. The event starts tomorrow but HEROIC will go up against the Brazilian organization MIBR on May 15. Time will tell if degster will perform well after spending a year away from the high-level competitive CS2 scene.

HEROIC Praised Degster

Despite there still being a lot of doubt if degster can still showcase the same skill as he did before, HEROIC seem pretty optimistic about the player. Coach Eetu “sAw” Saha said that degster is a player who has an insanely high skill ceiling and that makes it really interesting to bring him into the organization’s CS2 roster.

“He has a versatile playstyle, will bring a lot of initiative to the team with his ideas, as well as just raw fragging power. On top of that, he is really passionate about the game and I’m assuming that will show with his high level of energy inside and outside of the server,” sAw further explained.

HEROIC seem to put a lot of hope on the shoulders of the new player. The AWPer might be able to provide a renewed chance for the European combine to again become the team that made the top eight in Katowice. With degster joining the organization’s ranks, the roster now looks like this:

  • Guy “NertZ” Iluz
  • René “TeSeS” Madsen
  • Rasmus “sjuush” Beck
  • Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski
  • Abdul “degster” Gasanov
  • Eetu “sAw” Saha (coach)
  • Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi (bench)
