  • The team will be playing without their in-game leader

Due to a conflict with his personal scheduling, G2’s IGL Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, will be unable to attend the upcoming Dallas CS2 tournament.

HooXi To Miss Event

With the IEM Dallas 2024 just a couple of weeks away, teams are hard at work preparing for the CS2 event. However, as it sometimes happens, not all organizations will be able to attend the event with their usual rosters. Such is the case for G2 Esports, who will be competing without their in-game leader Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen.

The news was broken by the team’s General Manager Petar “peca” Marković, who talked to According to the website, HooXi’s absence from the upcoming CS2 tournament is due to a personal scheduling conflict. G2 is currently looking for a substitute for the 28-year-old player.

According to some rumors, Jake “Stewie2K” Yip might be the player G2 is looking for. This seems to be supported by a somewhat cryptic tweet the player himself posted recently. If that turns out to be the case, then he would play his first LAN since Evil Geniuses faltered at the Americas RMR for PGL Major Antwerp.

Stewie2K has lately been undergoing quite some changes in his personal career. He had returned to professional competition on a trial basis as a stand-in for Legacy after Marcelo “coldzera” David left the team recently. There’s a real possibility that the player would be offered a permanent spot on the org’s roster if the roles and switch to English communication worked out.

How Has G2 Performed So Far in 2024?

The news of HooXi’s absence in Dallas comes amidst G2’s ESL Pro League Season 19 campaign. The squad has been going through the event with relative success, getting into the playoffs through Group B by defeating BIG in their opening match of the bracket stage.

It’s safe to say that G2 has had a somewhat mixed performance so far this year. The squad has participated in many of the most important events, such as Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024, PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2024, and more. G2 has consistently ranked well in the leaderboards, but not well enough to end in the top-three of any of these events.

Considering there are less than three weeks left before the start of IEM Dallas 2024, which kicks off on May 28, the organization will have to train hard with their substitute, if they want to break this chain of close calls.
