  • G2 took the early lead in the match but fell a lot on the other two maps
  • MOUZ’s xertioN dominated gun duels, going 19:5 with G2’s Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
  • m0NESY was MOUZ’s only hope in the late match but he was not enough

MOUZ’s young players continue to impress as they turned the tides in the match against G2 and got into the EPL’s semi-finals.

MOUZ Defeat G2

We are just days away from the end of the ESL Pro League Season 19 and teams are clamoring to get into the final stages of the event. MOUZ are one of the lucky ones after the German organization beat G2 to secure a semi-final spot at the event.

Unfortunately for G2, this defeat means the team is out of the tournament. It also marks yet another playoff finish for G2 to go with their top-four at PGL Major Copenhagen and IEM Chengdu. So far, the squad has been relying on Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov to carry them so far in these events, but he cannot do all the work. G2 will have to seriously rethink its overall strategy if they want to win a tournament any time soon.

Meanwhile, MOUZ’s young players continue to bolster their already impressive credentials with every tournament played. Whilst they fell to G2 at the Major to end 5-8th, they avenged themselves on stage at IEM Chengdu on their way to second place. They reaffirmed that in this latest match against G2 and now have another top-four in their records.

Here’s How the Match Went

If one watched the first map, Inferno, one might not think that MOUZ would come out victorious in the end. It was virtually a one-sided affair with G2 dominating every aspect of the game, It was not long before the map finished in G2’s favor who had a whopping 13-3 advantage.

However, the script changed as soon as the map did to Vertigo. MOUZ woke up and came back with a vengeance, with Dorian “xertioN” Berman dominating the gun duels, going 19:5 in duels with Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. Soon, G2 were suffering from a huge deficit that even m0NESY’s performance in the second half of Vertigo could not fix. MOUZ then closed out the map 13-8 to equalize the overall score.

With a semi-final spot at stake, the teams entered Nuke. The map looked like the first one, only in reverse, with MOUZ dominating G2 at every step. The German squad finished the first half with a 9-3 advantage and no one could help their opponents close the gap. It was not long before MOUZ wrapped up the map 13-4 to win the coveted semi-final spot. The team now joins the likes of who also recently secured an EPL semi-final berth.

MOUZ will be going up against Complexity tomorrow on their way to potentially winning another trophy to go with the one they secured at the last iteration of ESL Pro League.
