  • VP start their run in the Serbian event with a 2-0 victory
  • The first map was very close but VP managed to turn the tides
  • Mirage, the second map, was an almost one-sided affair

VP Defeat Falcons

BetBoom Dacha Belgrade has started with a blast and the first victories have already been recorded. Virtus.pro is among those who have set off the Serbian tournament on the right foot after defeating Falcons 2-0 following a thrilling match.

The match is one of the first ones for Denis “electroNic” Sharipov after the player recently joined the squad. Since he did so, the organization has had some ups and downs. Virtus.pro suffered a shocking defeat to fnatic and were easily defeated by FaZe at ESL Pro League before laboring their way to the playoffs. However, perhaps this most recent victory against Falcons would suggest that the team is back in action to perform more consistently from now on.

How Did the Game Go?

It seems that the match against Falcons mirrors VP’s overall mixed performance in recent times. Although the Russian-majority squad eventually won, they had a tough time starting the match on Vertigo. However, in typical Virtus.pro fashion they managed to grind out the victory, and then they completely demolished Falcons on Mirage to grab a feel-good win and close out the series.

The two teams traded rounds on the first map which eventually led to an overtime. Falcons even had two leads, that they squandered, the first one being a 6-1 in the first half and the second one a close-to-victory 12-9 once the sides switched. However, VP were not ready to give up and Petr “fame” Bolyshev came in at the right moment and pulled his team to victory with a strong late surge. Soon, VP stole Vertigo with a close 16-13.

However, the next map, Mirage, would not turn out to be so hotly contested. It seemed that Falcons had run out of steam with their efforts on the first map. The squad wasn’t able to offer much resistance and it was not long before VP gained a massive advantage in the first half of the map. Petr “fame” Bolyshev was once again key to VP’s success as he absolutely destroyed the enemy lines and posted a 2.05 rating and 124 ADR at the end of the map. Mirage finished with a huge 13-5 lead for vP, who took the match 2-0.

With this game done, VP proceeds to the next round of the group where they will meet MOUZ. Meanwhile, Falcons will take on BetBoom in an elimination match.
