  • The organization has been struggling to achieve the desired results
  • VP hopes that Antares will help boost the team’s performance
  • Sayuw apparently simply became a “victim of circumstances”

With the aim of refreshing its performance, Virtus.pro bring aboard Vladislav “Antares” Kertman, a young and relatively inexperienced support.

VP Change Players

Virtus.pro don’t seem to have had a lot of luck in competitive Dota 2 in recent times. The team had a disappointing performance at Elite League, which resulted in a roster change as VP moved their long-time position four support Oleg “sayuw” Kalenbet to the inactive roster. In his place, the organization has brought former 9Pandas player Vladislav “Antares” Kertman.

Sayuw joined the team back in late 2022 and has been through the highs and lows with them. In a Twitter post, VP thanked the 26-year-old player for his contribution to the team, stating the org’s performance in The International 2023, where it finished at 7-8th place.

However, all eyes are now turned towards Antares. VP said that despite being a very young player, at just 21 years old, he has already established himself as a professional with a lot of experience in the biggest Dota 2 tournaments.

VP Explain the Reason for the Change

The organization’s head of Dota 2 roster, Alexander “StrangeR” Solomonov, shared a few words giving light on the reasons why VP decided on this change. According to StrangeR, the squad has been playing for a year without changes, relying on growth and work within the team. Unfortunately, this was not enough to achieve what both they and the fans wanted.

“To achieve something better, the team needs a new breath, new impetus. That is why the decision was made to carry out a spot replacement right now,” StrangeR said in a Telegram post. According to him, sayuw became the “victim of circumstances” in the roster changes. He stated that this roster change was not to target any individual but to explore options for improvement.

Although the organization praises Antares a lot, the fact that he hasn’t won any major events is still there. The player is, however, capable, according to other metrics, so perhaps his time in VP will give him the opportunity to prove himself. The nearest tournament that this could be done at is the upcoming PGL Wallachia Season 1, where 16 teams will be fighting for the lion’s share of the $1 Million prize pool.
