Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov stated in a recent stream that the org will never field a second Dota 2 team as the current tournament rules make this impractical.

Korb3n Talks to Fans

Larger esports organizations often field two rosters in a single title, the second one usually being a junior team where young prospective players train and compete with the aim of one day joining the main lineup. The likelihood of an org fielding a second roster often rises with the success of the first one.

Team Spirit’s Dota 2 definitely fits in the category where they could field a junior team, considering the organization is a veritable powerhouse in the game. However, according to Team Spirit’s manager Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov, the organization does not plan to ever have a second Dota 2 roster.

Responding to inquiries from viewers about the possibility of Team Spirit expanding its Dota 2 presence, Korb3n stated unequivocally, “There will never be a second Dota 2 roster. It doesn’t make sense.” This comes from a recent Twitch stream where the manager talked with fans, answering questions that they had.

Korb3n elaborated further, explaining the reason why the organization will never field another Dota 2 team. It’s because current tournament regulations prohibit teams from entering multiple squads in competitions. “All the current rules of tournament operators prohibit playing two squads at their tournaments,” he explained.

That being said, Korb3n admitted that there might be some potential benefits of having additional teams under the Team Spirit banner. “It would be very desirable, honestly,” the manager said, although he reiterated that the existing rules don’t support such endeavors.

How Has the Team Been Performing Recently?

Currently, Team Spirit’s lineup is considered one of the best Dota 2 teams of all time, after they won The International 12 back in October of last year. Interestingly, this was the second such event they have won in their careers, adding to Spirit’s reputation of being one of the best in the world.

However, recently many Team spirit members have said that the team is not performing optimally. The organization’s carry player Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk is one of these as he has recently admitted that there were major problems within the Team Spirit roster. According to him, the org’s players have been having troubles regarding gameplay and hero drafting that needed to be addressed.

And fix these problems Team Spirit should, as the organization is gearing up for the upcoming ELITE League, which starts at the end of this month.
