  • The organization had a flawless run so far in the EMEA Kickoff event
  • Heretics defeated former VALORANT world champion cNed and his on their way to securing the spot
  • MiniBoo led all players at the event in ACS, damage per round, and first kills per round

Despite many doubting Heretics due to their inexperienced roster, the organization proved everyone wrong by securing a Masters Madrid berth.

Heretics Secure Masters Spot

The 2024 VCT EMEA Kickoff event is coming to a close today and the top teams from the event have already become clear. Team Heretics seems to be leading the way despite many fans familiar with VALOTANT esports initially doubting the young roster.

Despite that, Heretics have silenced the nay-sayers and booked a trip to Masters Madrid without dropping a map yet. All three of Heretics’ wins so far in the EMEA Kickoff have been won by a 2-0 margin, and all three have been mightily impressive.

The team started off the event with quite an achievement as they defeated none other than former VALORANT world champion cNed and his Turkish superteam on FUT. By taking down the big players, Team Heretics already brought the attention to themselves.

However, the squad continued its campaign by dominating Karmine Corp with 13-4 wins on both Split and Lotus, bringing Heretics on a collision course with NaVi. The Ukrainian organization was to be the toughest opponent that heretics would have to face as they were reunited with Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks. After surviving NaVi’s map choice of Sunset in overtime, Heretics crushed the former Masters Copenhagen winners on their own pick of Breeze. With this victory, Heretics secured a spot for Masters Madrid, held between March 14 and 24.

Heretics Silence Critics

With this achievement, Team Heretic proved many analysts wrong. Some, like the members of Plat Chat and Thinking Man’s VALORANT ranked the organization toward the bottom of their respective power rankings. A chief concern expressed by them was the relative lack of experience on the team and the fact they’d be competing with a substitute. Only in-game leader RiÄŤardas “Boo” LukaševiÄŤius played throughout the 2023 VCT season as his teammate benjyfishy joined late last year for just a single match at the LCQ.

Boo undoubtedly held the most experience in the team, but it was his younger brother, aptly named MiniBoo, who impressed the most. He led all participants at the event in ACS, damage per round, and first kills per round. MiniBoo is also second in K/D and kills per round behind last year’s EMEA MVP Emir “Alfajer” Beder.

Although they have already secured a spot at the Masters Madrid, Heretics still have one more match to play at the Kickoff event’s finals against Karmine Corp. If they win this, they will certainly become one of this year’s VCT favorites.
