The Three Companies Announce Partnership

Video games and esports are not just for fun but they can also be used to teach valuable skills to people and help them achieve personal growth. For this reason, the esports technology company FitGMR has partnered with the Association for Online Gamers (AOG) and UK-based youth mental health charity ShawMind.

Aimed at young people between the ages of 8 and 18, the partnership aims to help them develop different skills. Additionally, this collaboration is tied to AOG’s new global esports development program which has the goal of combining game skills training with coaching for both mental and emotional learning. Although the project is currently based in the UK, the aim is to push the program worldwide in the future.

“This partnership will not only enhance the technical skills of young gamers but also equip them with the tools necessary for mental resilience and physical fitness, ensuring they thrive both in-game and in life,” commented Kristin Anderson, CEO of FITGMR, about the deal.

As part of the deal, AOG will gain access to FITGMR’s app, designed to address the physical and mental demands of esports athletes. Both entities hope that learning these important skills through gaming will positively impact children’s wider lives.

Peter Wingrove, CEO of ShawMind and Co-Founder of AOG, explained how the former organization has championed children’s mental health education in the UK by forcing a Parliamentary debate on the issue in 2017. He stated that the company is excited to contribute its experience and skills to this exciting partnership with the Association For Online Gamers and FitGMR, helping young people build their self-confidence and resilience to cope with life’s challenges.

More About the Three Companies

The Association for Online Gamers was founded in 2023 with Wingrove being one of its co-founders. Both it and ShawMind run an esports development program together with a joint mission stating its aims to “enhance the mental fitness, social and technical skills of young people”.

Meanwhile, for FitGMR this is not the first time collaborating with educational groups within the esports space. Last year, the company teamed up with NECC to give students access to the aforementioned app. The year prior FITGMR partnered with the IESF to give all the teams present workshops on health and well-being.
