CECC 2024 is Announced
This spring will see the Esports Stadium Arlington, Texas, be host to the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup (CECC), an event that sees some of the best competitive talents in scholastic esports compete against each other. The event, organized by Collegiate Sports Management Group also revealed that fast food brand McDonald’s will be its presenting sponsor.
The main tournament features 84 teams competing across four game titles – Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and VALORANT. CECC Texas will be held on May 3rd-5th at the Esports Stadium Arlington, with official year-end tournaments for its circuit. Additionally, the youth esports platform Vanta will crown Texas’s middle and high school champions.
Just like last year, 2024’s CECC Texas will see McDonald’s be its crucial partner. The fast food company has prepared a series of on-site activations, custom digital content, and various gaming giveaways. Furthermore, McDonald’s will host a private red carpet Jersey Ceremony at the start of the weekend, which will see each player receive a branded jersey.
The CECC’s Popularity Is Growing
This year’s iteration of the CECC builds on the large success the vent had in 2023. Back then, the tournaments saw more than 3 000 visitors with over 400 players from across North America participating in it. These impressive numbers did not go unnoticed as CECC Texas 2023 was awarded LAN Event of the Year during the inaugural Scholars Awards in Las Vegas.
“This mega event continues to draw interest from numerous markets across the country. After evaluating all of our options, we have decided that with the level of support and collaboration, we experienced in 2023, along with the continued resources and growth of the Dallas market for sports events, we needed to be back in Texas,” explained Michael Schreck, CSMG Chief Executive Officer. “We’ve had our sights set on an even bigger and better event in Arlington to welcome the best scholastic competitors and fans from North America.”
Speaking of the competitors, participating teams will be decided with the use of regional competitions that are held across the United States. The end of 2023 already saw the Midwest and East Regional tournaments. Meanwhile, the CECC South Regional, CECC West Regional, CECC Canadian Regional, and CECC Last Chance Qualifier are taking place between February and April 2024.
With all that being said, the CECC promises to be a great way for young and aspiring professional players to prove themselves on the big scene.
