  • Ludwig brings Zain Naghmi on board for his Smash project
  • Fans speculated that Ludwig would be signing Zain since the latter left Golden Guardians
  • Zain is now Moist’s sixth Smash player overall, bringing the organization closer to becoming the top brand in competitive Smash

With a full-on meme video, Ludwing, co-owner of Moist Esports, announced the organization is signing legendary Smash Melee player Zain.

Zain Joins Moist Moguls

Zain Naghmi, the top Super Smash Bros. Melee player in the world, has officially joined the Moist Moguls, a part of the esports organization owned by popular online content creators Ludwig and  MoistCr1TiKaL. The announcement comes just a week after Zain left his former organization, Golden Guardians, on March 29, following a three-year-long stay with that team.

The announcement video was meme-worthy itself. Ludwig played a heartbroken lover that misses somebody, but viewers could get a glimpse of who that was when the streamer sniffed what looks to be the jacket Zain wore during his G7 win. The video ended with both him and Zain reuniting, revealing the pro player has been signed by the Moist Moguls.

There were already hints that Zain has found a new organization when he announced his departure from GG last month. Fans immediately started theorizing that Ludwig, who is deeply involved in the Smash community, would be the one to sign Zain. These speculations were fueled by Ludwig’s Mogul Moves brand sponsoring Zain during his Genesis 7 run in January 2020 before he joined GG.

Since then, Ludwig has been sponsoring Smash tournaments or creating his own all around the world. Perhaps the biggest event he has taken a crucial part in organizing was the Scuffed World Tour last December. In late January 2023, Ludwig also became co-owner of Mosit Esports, the organization created by popular streamer and YouTuber Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White.

Since then, the Smash division of the organization, aptly named Most Moguls by combining both pre-merger names, has doubled down on the game. Zain is now Moist’s second Melee player and sixth Smash player overall. He joins 13th-ranked Kurtis “moky” Pratt, forming another powerhouse roster in the scene.

Following this signing, Moist Esports is on the way to becoming the top brand in the Smash community. If Ludwig signs even more top names, which have recently become free agents, then this prognosis might become true sooner than later.
