  • MOUZ exit the Major without winning a single map
  • GemerLegion now need two more series wins to qualify for the Legends Stage
  • They dominated MOUZ on Overpass, ending it with a huge advantage of 16-5

MOUZ have been eliminated by GamerLegion from the last-ever CS:GO Major after failing to win a single map in their three matches at the tournament.

GamerLegion Defeat MOUZ

BLAST Premier Paris Major’s second day ended with some teams being eliminated from the last-ever CS:GO major, before the game transitions to Counter-Strike 2. MOUZ were one of the squads that did not make the cut as they were eliminated following a 0-2 match against relative underdogs GamerLegion.

The mixed European roster exit the tournament after just three matches, with the first two being losses against Ninjas in Pyjamas and OG on Monday. GamerLegion simply put the last nail in the coffin by defeating MOUZ in a decisive match on Mirage and Overpass.

Ironically, GamerLegion’s roister consists of two former members of the MOUZ organization – Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand and Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek. Perhaps the players’ inside knowledge helped the team defeat MOUZ. GamerLegion now require two more series wins to qualify for the Legends Stage of the Major.

“It means a lot to me and siuhy,” said GamerLegion’s Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand after the match. “siuhy maybe not as much, but it kinda proves it a little bit for me like… I don’t know if it proves it, but we had a lot of emotions and it showed, and we ended up winning the game.”

Here’s How the Match Went

The match started on Mirage, and in the initial stages, it didn’t look like MOUZ would fall from grace so fast. In fact, the team took the early lead, stringing up 4 rounds before GamerLegion could respond. However, when the latter did so, MOUZ’s easy sailing was over for the rest of the match.

Playing on the CT side, GamerLegion slowly turned the tides of battle and managed to take the lead by the end of the first half. The team maintained this momentum once the sides switched, getting the scoreboard up to 11-7 before MOUZ could respond. The team successfully strung several rounds, but their efforts were simply not enough, as a couple of consecutive B attacks by GamerLegion sealed the map 16-12 in their favor.

Despite one being able to argue that the first map was somewhat balanced, such a thing cannot be said for the second one, Overpass. GamerLegion absolutely dominated their opponents as siuhy and company won the pistol round and kept a comfortable lead throughout the half. This positioned GamerLegion with a huge 11-4 advantage at the start of the second half, in which MOUZ simply folded over, winning just one round that made no difference.

In the end, GamerLegion quickly wrapped up Overpass, winning it with a score of 16-5 and eliminating MOUZ from the last-ever CS:GO Major.
