Esports organization FaZe Clan has attracted another high-profile athlete in its ranks, bringing Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray into the fold.
Kyler Murray Joins Esports Fray at FaZe Clan
Following the recent partnership between former San Francisco 49ers’ ace Richard Sherman and Enthusiast Gaming, another NFL player is closing ranks with an esports organization.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has become an official member of FaZe Clan, a prominent competitive video gaming outfit that participates in a number of high-profile competitions. Murray is no stranger to gaming, and the quarterback is already very popular on Twitch with 62,800 followers.
Not bad for someone who spends the bulk of their time honing their athletic performance and skills. In fact, FaZe Clan has had a good run with real-world athletes, having previously signed Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons.
FaZe’s cooperation with athletes has been mostly focused on the creation of “lifestyle content” and positioning the FaZe brand with audiences interested in watching esports but not too familiar with what they are.
With nine esports teams across numerous game genres, FaZe is definitely a good entry point for esports novices who are looking for entertaining and action-packed content. Murray was actually taken aback when he found out that FaZe would be interested in him.
FaZe and Murray – A Match Meant to Be
In the words of the player himself, the fact that “they’re really interested and want you to be part of the family,’ that was kind of shocking to me.” It was a love from first sight as Murray said that he was happy to be a part of an organization that loves esports as much as he does.
Murray has already expressed interest in the past to get involved with esports, but he has never had the right contacts, that is until a few months back when he first got in touch with FaZe through a mutual connection.
He spared no praise for FaZe, which he called “the Nike of esports,” and the most significant esports organization in the ecosystem. Murray is not just yet too privy to the details, but from the snippet he has seen of what FaZe to offer, he said that the organization’s portfolio is pretty substantial.
“I think the sky’s the limit, honestly,” he said. “With FaZe, all the stuff they got going … the connections they have, the opportunities you can get to be a part of with FaZe — I’ve only seen a snippet of it and to be honest it’s pretty crazy what they got going over there,” Murray concluded commenting for ESPN.
