- World of Warcraft Season of Mastery will allow players to make one character before the game releases
- This means that people can reserve a character name as early as five days before the season goes live
- This will be an opportunity for streamers as they can reserve their brand name
World of Warcraft Season of Mastery goes live on November 16 but players can make their first character starting November 11.
Season of Mastery Will Allow Players to Create a Character in Advance
Blizzard has released more details about the release date of the upcoming World of Warcraft Classic Season of Mastery. Additionally, players will be able to reserve a character name as early as November 11.
The name reservation will allow every single player with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time to create a single Season of Mastery character prior to the season launch. To do this people have to go through the usual process: install and launch the game, pick a realm, race, class and customize the character. The character will be unable to log in to the game until the season rolls in, though.
Furthermore, should someone change their mind about the name they want to reserve or want to transfer it to a different character, they would have to delete the character and make a new one in order to fit the one character limit the seasonal servers will have before release.
Once the season goes live, people will be able to make up to 49 more Season of Mastery characters. Blizzard announced that those 50 seasonal characters will be separate from the usual 50 characters in the mainline World of Warcraft and the 50 characters in the mainline Burning Crusade Classic.
This means that a passionate player can now have up to 150 characters across WoW’s various versions. Sadly, the heroes that Season of Mastery beta testers used will be unavailable once the official Season of Mastery releases.
Streamers Can Reserve Their Brand Name
The addition of the name reservation is a welcome one, especially to content creators who will be able to quickly get a character with their brand name. Prominent streamers have previously talked about name reservations. What they wanted is for multiplayer games to have the option of confirming their identity and having an in-game name reserved for them in a similar fashion to how social media have official pages for brands and celebrities.
The current WoW Season of Mastery name reservations aren’t quite what streamers wanted but with people being able to reserve a single character, there will be less competition.
The exciting adventure will go live on November 16, meaning that people will have five days jumpstart in making a character and picking a realm. Those who are part of gaming communities or guilds that span across numerous versions of WoW have ample time to decide in which realm they will be playing.
