  • The CoD event gathered more than 378 000 concurrent viewers at one point, according to Activision
  • This puts it ahead of even the Call of Duty League in terms of viewership
  • More than 3 000 fans watched the event’s finals live in the Cooper Box Arena

Team Biffle made quite the impression on the wider CoD community as their World Series of Warzone 2023 finals recorded a whopping 378 000 concurrent viewers.

World Series of Warzone 2023 Breaks Records

World Series of Warzone 2023 recently concluded with a spectacular win by Team Biffle, an all-American squad competing out of the North American circuit. Finishing with a total of 218.2 points, having a whopping lead of 75 points ahead of their opponents, the trio of Shifty, Sage, and Biffle took home the trophy and the grand prize of $100 000.

The team’s path throughout the tournament was anything but easy, however. They started World Series of Warzone 2023 badly and had two fifth-place finishes throughout the event. However, Team Biffle eventually bounced back, scoring two first-places and an incredibly dominant game six, allowing them to finally grab the grand prize.

Their story contributed massively to the popularity of the event and the competitive Warzone scene in general. This resulted in the tournament breaking viewership record across the boards, with it even garnering more viewers than even this year’s CDL Champions. According to Activision, the final of World Series of Warzone 2023 saw more than 378 000 viewers at its peak and an additional 3 000 live spectators watching the event in person in the Cooper Box Arena.

If we compare these stats to this year’s CDL viewership, we will see that World Series of Warzone 2023 beats that event in terms of viewership by quite a significant margin. Once again according to Activision’s statistics, the CDL had a peak viewership of 335 170 in this year’s Major 3 which saw Atlanta FaZe and OpTic Texas face off in the Grand Final. This means that 40 000 more viewers tuned in for World Series of Warzone 2023.

Interestingly, however, Esports Charts gives some other numbers that do not quite correspond to those released by Activision. According to the former, the Warzone event recorded a conservative 308 289 viewers at its peak. Despite that, it still beats 2023’s CDL Champs which saw New York Subliners and Toronto Ultra in the Grand Final, which saw a peak of 294 178 concurrent viewers.

It’s currently unknown why there is this large discrepancy in the statistics from different sources, but chances are they will be corrected in the following days. The actual number of peak viewers will likely be somewhere in the middle. But no matter exactly how many fans tuned in during the weekend, it’s safe to say there were many of them and this shows how much impact Warzone is having on the Eider CoD community.
