Activision Blizzard teamed up with Women in Games International. Under the collaboration, Activision will provide WIGI with a landmark $1 million grant to advance the success of women within the gaming industry globally.
Activision to Support Women in Games International via a $1 Million Grant
Women in Games International (WIGI) is a nonprofit organization established in 2005. Based in LA, California, the organization’s goal is to drive economic equality and diversity within the global gaming industry. Earlier this week, WIGI announced a new partnership with Activision Blizzard.
Under the terms of the collaboration, the nonprofit organization agreed to receive the largest fund in its history. The $1 million fund which will be supplied by Activision will help WIGI to continue funding mentorship, as well as professional development programs.
It was back in August when Activision Blizzard’s president J Allen Brack stepped down. That happened amid allegations against the company for sexual assault and workplace discrimination. Brack’s position was filled in by Jen Oneal. After leading the company for only three months, she stepped down and joined WIGI as a member of the board of directors.
A Landmark Grant for WIGI
WIGI’s CEO, Joanie Kraut, outlined that it was an honor for the organization to be named “a resource to combat discrimination” by Activision employees in July this year. She outlined that WIGI “were humbled by the overwhelming response of support from individual donors and partners.”

Kraut acknowledged that the $1 million is a landmark grant for WIGI. She added that the new funds will undoubtedly help programs that support the advancements of women in the gaming industry globally. Last but not least, Kraut revealed that WIGI will continue to support women via various methods and programs.

Additionally, she revealed that the grant will help as “a great step toward” providing an impactful and lasting change. Oneal revealed that she couldn’t be more excited to work with WIGI’s team. In conclusion, she acknowledged that the partnership will unravel its full potential with the help of WIGI’s extensive expertise and collective focus.
