The tournament will be the first local event in Riot’s mobile title, produced officially by the local branch Riot Games Southeast Asia. Other tournaments in Malaysia and Thailand will be instead operated by ESL

The Sponsors and the Competitors

The organization of the Wild Rift event will be aided financially by Mox Bank, which will be the main sponsor and will be included in the title. The local Hong Kong Cyberport and the telecommunications company CSL Mobile will also partner with Talon Esports.

Bruce Lam from the latter mentioned that his company is dedicated to helping, supporting, and promoting esports in Hong Kong and will do everything in its power to provide the best 5G mobile network. Lam hopes that CSL Mobile’s partnership with Riot Games and Talon Esports will help grow talented players that can later represent Hong Kong worldwide.

The League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Icon Series Hong Kong: Summer Season by Mox will see 64 teams engage in a showdown for admission in the group stages. Four teams from the group stages will then proceed to the finals. The organizers hope to have the finals offline if the COVID-19 situation calms down by the end of June.

The champion team will share the grand prize of $26,000.

League of Legends: Wild Rift has enjoyed a spectacular amount of popularity, especially by the SEA, where it will be played as a medal sport in the SEA Games. A world championship is already in the works, perhaps releasing this very same year.
