After a continuous attempt to contact Valve and make them reevaluate their decision, a French player finally manages to get through and have his ban removed. 

The Ban and the Reason for the Misunderstanding

About three years ago, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Jayson “Kyojin” Nguyen Van was handed an unjust Valve Anti-Cheat ban. However, in a recent post on April 4, the player excitedly shared that this ban is no more. 

Although it hadn’t been confirmed, supposedly, Kyojin played from a VAC-banned account as a kid. When he proceeded to create his own account and started playing competitively in 2018, he automatically received the ban because of Kyojin’s relation to the previous account. 

Valve’s investigation didn’t reveal if this was truly the case but did confirm Kyojin’s innocence. The game company has revoked the VAC ban, which prevented the player from playing competitively. 

Kyojin himself was overjoyed at the news. The player tweeted a statement where he announced he is now eligible to play competitively once more. Kyojin is relieved that he has cleared his name and is thankful to Jérôme Coupez, who helped him with the investigation. The French player promises to give his best in the game and not disappoint the people who believe in him.

The community also received the news well. Kyojin had previously played with elites and was already known to some people.

It is unfortunate that mistakes like this happen. Recently many games and companies have been acting upon cheating, match-fixing, feeding, etc. With a higher alert on the companies’ side, it’s possible that more cases like Kyojin’s may occur. However, it’s reassuring to see Valve is willing to take a second look and reevaluate its decision to ban someone. Valve had shown this previously as well when it decided to let Robin “robiin” Sjögren return to the game.

This is promising news to many who have been banned unjustly or may be in the future.
