Players who have excelled at playing CS:GO this year will soon receive a reward in the form of a medal, which they can display on their profile.
Valve Unveils a New Service Medal
CS:GO continues to be one of Valve and the world’s most popular games, with millions of players shooting it out on de_dust2. These players are rewarded at the end of each year with a small reward, called the “Service Medal”. These are small rewards that players can display on their matches and are proof that those players have been active in the last 12 months.
This year’s Service Medal does not differ too much from the one of last year. This tradition started back in 2015 and was awarded to players who reached level 40. Just like previous years, the new medal will be available to players from January 1st.
How to Get the Service Medal?
The medal can be claimed by earning XP through playing the game. To be awarded it, a player must reach level 40 their rank resets and they get the option to either earn or upgrade their service medal. The key thing here is to gain XP, so fortunately it does not matter what kind of game mode one is playing. The only thing that matters is the final score.
One important thing that has to be mentioned is that a player will get the option to change their medal on January 1st (assuming they have reached level 40). Then they can reset their medal, however, if they do so before 01.01.2022, they will get the 2021 Service Medal.
If players have reached level 40, reset it, and reached it again, they have the option to upgrade their Service Medal. The first upgrade turns the grey medal into green, level 3 is blue, followed by purple, pink, and finally red. More information can be found here.
With a few days to spare, some players still have the chance to grind and get that medal when New Year arrives.
