T1 Moved Seven to Its Inactive Roster after Failing to Qualify for the VCT Stage 1

in Valorant
March 22, 2022
  • T1 has decided to move Johann “seven” Hernandez to its inactive VALORANT roster
  • The player remained in the organization for just two months after his acquisition in January
  • T1 failed to qualify for the first stage of the VALORANT Champions Tour, prompting it to revise its lineup

T1 has moved Johann “seven” Hernandez to its inactive roster after failing to qualify for the VCT Stage One.

Seven Gets Benched After 2 Months with T1

The South Korean and North American organization T1 is about to make some changes to its professional VALORANT team. Following the team’s unfavorable results, it has decided to relieve Johann “seven” Hernandez from his duties.

The news was later confirmed by T1 itself, as it shared an official Twitter announcement, confirming seven’s fate. While he will not be leaving the organization, he is being put on its bench for the time being.

#T1VALORANT Update:

Unfortunately, @sevvn will be moved to the inactive roster. The choice was made mutually between both parties.

We have strong hopes that he will find a team that aligns with him during this time.

— T1 (@T1) March 19, 2022

In his time on the inactive roster, seven will be allowed to explore other options and join other rosters. T1 wished him all the best and said that it hopes he will find a team that “aligns with him.”

As of now, T1 will start searching for a fifth player to round up its lineup. Here are the VALORANT team’s current active players:

  • Rahul “curry” Nemani
  • Zander “thwifo” Kim
  • Joshua “steel” Nissan
  • Josh “pwny” VanGorder

T1 Failed to Achieve Any Significant Victories in 2022

Seven joined T1 just two months ago and was one of the organization’s freshest players. However, T1 performed suboptimally and failed to qualify for the first stage of the VALORANT Champions Tour.

The team was defeated by Rise in the upper bracket of the first open qualifier, effectively losing its shot at playing on the bigger scene. Then, after the relegation to the lower bracket, T1’s coach, David “dd8” Denis was accused of illegally communicating with his team during T1’s game against TSM. The accusation caused T1 to forfeit the match and earned Dd8 a suspension.

The second open qualifier wasn’t any better. While T1 opened with a few good games, the players quickly lost steam and received crushing defeats at the hands of Cosmic Divide and VIRTUOSO.

With such an unfortunate performance, it is hardly surprising that T1 is looking to make some changes. And while it may be sad to see seven go after such a short stint, we can hope that T1 will buckle up and return stronger than ever.
