Girl Pwr Tournament in Brazil Supported by VCT Game Changers

in Valorant
March 30, 2021
  • Brazilian VALORANT tournament Girl Pwr receives Riot’s Game Changers support
  • The upcoming Girl Pwr will be a continuation of a tournament series whose first successful event was held in November
  • The CEO of Gaming Culture, which will be organizing the event, is proud of receiving Riot’s support and recognition

As VALORANT becomes more and more popular with women, Gaming Culture will hold the second iteration of a special all-women competitive event in Brazil. The second Girl Pwr tournament will receive support from Riot’s VCT Game Changers program.

The Event and Its Major Sponsors

This Monday, Brazilian esports company Gaming Culture confirmed that the second iteration of their Girl Pwr VALORANT tournament series is coming up. Moreover, this time the event will receive support from Riot’s official program VCT Game Changers that focuses on bringing more professional women and people from marginalized genders into the VALORANT esports scene.

The event will have a prize pool of around $3,500. In an interview with The Esports Observer, Peterson Rodrigues, Gaming Culture’s CEO, revealed that a second edition of the tournament was already planned in advance. At that time, Rodrigues and his team were approached by Riot Games, who proposed to give the event support by the VCT Game Changers initiative. The CEO humbly yet excitedly shared that he is flattered of having his company receive recognition from none other than Riot itself.

Other than the Game Changers program, Girl Pwr will also be supported by the Admiral Overseas Corporation monitor brand. Girl Pwr will be, in fact, the second VALORANT tournament to receive AOC’s support this year, the first one being another Gaming Culture event.

The open qualifiers for Girl Pwr will take place from April 7 to 8. The qualifiers and playoffs will both be streamed on Gaming Culture's Twitch channel.

VALORANT has been having one of the fastest-growing female player bases. Recently several new all-women teams were announced, such as CLG Red and TSM. The Game Changers program has also been a valuable asset in Riot’s arsenal for attracting people to the currently growing first-person shooter.
