FaZe Clan Announces New VALORANT Roster

in Valorant
April 29, 2022
  • FaZe has revealed a revamped VALORANT team for the second time this year
  • The team has had mixed results this season
  • FaZe becomes yet another big team to make such a drastic change mid-season

This Friday will see the VCT North American Stage Two Challengers event see the debut of FaZe Clan’s new VALORANT roster.

The Organization Reveals Its New Roster

FaZe Clan revamped their VALORANT team just a couple of months after the organization first revealed the composition back in January. The new team will make its debut on April 29 at the VCT North American Stage Two Challengers event. The revamped roster includes two former Rise players – Phat “suapamen” Le and Kevin “POISED” Ngo- as well as Jake “Poach” Brumleve, Quan “dicey” Tran, and Andrej “Babybaby” Francisty.

Fans can expect to see some fresh faces joining the team. However, the roster’s core is still here in the face of Babyjay. Former 100 Thieves player Dicey also remains. He was part of FaZe’s original VALORANT roster for this season, having joined in January.

This whole team has actually already played together at the Knights Gauntlet Circuit Monthly 2022: April where they placed 3rd. They easily dominated ZMB and Soniqs. However, in the semifinals FaZe met TSM, which proved to be more than a match for them. The game ended 2-0 in favor of TSM.

We’re Seeing an Interesting Trend in VALORANT Teams

FaZe becomes yet another big organization to make massive changes to its VALORANT roster mid-season. For example, NY Fury just recently went through something similar rebuilding its team from the ground up by parting ways with most of its players.

The trend of such drastic roster changes in the middle of the competitive season was also recently seen with 100 Thieves, who also reworked their roster, changing most players. Only Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk, who has been a staple of the organization since 2020, remained on the team. He was joined by Derrek “Derrek” Ha, Brenden “stellar” McGrath, William “Will” Cheng, and Sean “bang” Bezerra.

But perhaps the team most hit by this trend was Alliance, who benched their entire roster. The main reason stated was a series of devastating defeats, forcing the organization to rethink its entire doctrine. Its players are still technically under contract but are free to explore new options. However, Alliance currently has no active VALORANT roster.

It seems FaZe is following these other organizations, as the team has had mixed results this season. Their only major victory was at the Stage 1 NA Challengers 1 when they 3-0’d 100 Thieves in the grand finals, but this would be the last time we saw them succeed.
