Alfajer’s Dramatic Rise to One of Europe’s Best VALORANT Players

in Valorant
June 9, 2022
  • Fnatic’s Alfajer is becoming one of the region’s best VALORANT professionals
  • At only 16 years of age, Alfajer is already topping the charts
  • His aggressive playstyle is vital for Fnatic’s success in upcoming events

At only 16 years old, Emir “Alfajer” Ali Beder is becoming one of Europe’s best VALORANT players, after being rejected by BIG and Acend.

A Prodigy Is Born

Sometimes professional gamers start their careers very young, and Fnatic’s 16-year-old sentinel and duelist Emir “Alfajer” Ali Beder is no exception. At a young age, he would watch horse races with his father, and when the time came to represent his skills in the professional VALORANT scene, the young player chose the nickname of his father’s favorite racehorse: Alfajer.

Alfajer, the player, had his spectacular debut last month at the VALORANT Champions Tour EMEA Stage Two Challengers group stage. Alfajer joined Fnatic alongside Enzo at the beginning of May and by the end of the month, the player had already gained the highest average combat score of any player in Europe.

Despite his stellar performance, Alfajer had not always seemed like a prodigy. He started in Surreal in 2021 and played in Turkey for almost a year, climbing the scoreboards. According to VLG.gg, the player managed to average 152.3 damaged per round in the VCT Stage One EMEA Promotion.

This solid performance laid the groundwork for Alfajer eventually joining Fnatic and performing on the big stage.

The Player Keeps Climbing the Ladder

Alfajer’s performance kept him in the eyes of several big organizations like BIG and Acend. However, neither signed the young player. In an interview for Dot Esports, Alfajer explained this was frustrating. He said BIG chose another player because they had more experience, while Acend told him his English wasn’t good enough.

However, Fnatic saw Alfajer’s potential and signed the youngster. The player has since played three games with Fnatic and hasn’t lost a match. His performance is getting better, becoming one of the top three top-rated players in the VCTEMEA alongside fellow team member Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev.

“I think I’m very young, so I think I need more experience to become one of the best players in the world,” Alfajer said. “But I believe I can become one of the best players in the world in the future.”

The young player also explained he idolizes Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom and Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş, both of which are known for their aggressive playstyles. This style has rubbed off on Alfrajer, as he is becoming popular for his fast aggressive combat as well. He is known for his aggressive playstyle on Killjoy, one of the more stationary agents in VALORANT. According to VLR.gg, the player has averaged a combat score of 260.7 on the agent.

Now that Fnatic is aiming for VCT Masters in Copenhagen, Alfajer has another chance to prove himself and add his future performance to an already impressive resume.
