  • The Mongolian team earns a spot for the event after winning 5E Arena Asia Cup Fall qualifier
  • They avenged a loss from 5cyclone by absolutely dominating them in the last match
  • Interestingly, none of TheMongolz’s players were among the highest-rated in the tournament

5E Arena Asia Cup Fall qualifier came to an end with the victory of The Mongolz, who now have their eyes set on a spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Final.

TheMongolz Triumph

BLAST Premier’s Fall Showdown is a notoriously cut-throat qualifier that allows teams to win a spot for the Fall Final if they are strong enough. The tournament pitches some of the best CS:GO teams in the world against one another in an epic showdown, a part of which TheMongolz will be. The Mongolian team qualified for the event after defeating Chinese organization 5yclone 2-0 on Nuke and Ancient at the 5E Arena Asia Cup Fall qualifier.

The squad managed this feat just a few days after they suffered defeat at the Asian qualifiers for the IEM Sydney, where interestingly, they lost to 5yclone. Another defeat from Lynn Vision was the last nail in the coffin barring TheMongolz from attending IEM Sydney.

However, this did not discourage the team, as the players performed much better It wasn’t an easy run for the squad led by Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren, who had to make it past their ATOX country-men in the first round of the four-team playoff. They lost the opening map of the match but managed to eventually pull through thanks to hard-fought victories on the other maps, all of which went to overtime.

The team then blasted through the other matches, suffering just one defeat 5yclone, once again, in the group stage. However, TheMongolz had their vengeance in the event’s finals, when they completely wiped the floor with the Chinese team. Although 5yclone showed stiff resistance on the first map, losing it with just two points to TheMongolz, they seem to have completely switched off during the second map. When Ancient started, TheMongolz quickly gained the initiative and completely led their opponents, allowing 5yclone to win just three rounds in total, and finished the map with a staggering result of 16-3.

Despite the roaring success TheMongolz saw during the event, none of their players were among the highest rated. Instead, all players performed above average, which amounted to their eventual vitory. bLitz, Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold, and Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch all ended the online event with over 1.10 ratings, so it is not to say that the team did not have good players, it’s just that some were individually better than them.

Now, TheMongolz join the four other teams that have already qualified for the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown: Imperial, Complexity, Evil Geniuses, and Fake Natty.
