The Division’s Vision

The*gameHERs is a North American gaming community that focuses on women gamers. It has now launched its very own girl collegiate division, described as a safe and inclusive community for all female and female-identifying gamers, as well as non-binaries. It has set its focus on providing members with prospects of a career in gaming.

The community will establish a network of communication among students across the United States and will help them establish their own local communities. The*gameHERs will provide members with all kinds of resources and information and will establish an official Discord server. The community will also host various collegiate tournaments and will provide career mentorships for aspiring professional gamers.

Co-Founder & CMO of the*gameHERs Rebecca Dixon commented:

“We are thrilled to expand the*gameHERs mission into the collegiate space by creating an intentional division on campuses throughout the U.S. Since our inception in March 2020, we’ve been working hard to appeal to college students so this is a huge milestone in our business.”

The*gameHERs’ Mighty Supporters

Speaking of campuses, the*gameHERs’ division has already secured partnerships with several colleges and universities in various states, with Chicago’s DePaul University as one of the most prominent. DePaul’s director of student involvement Courtney James spoke on the initiative:

“DePaul University is excited for the opportunity to partner with the*gameHERs as we continue to grow and develop our esports program. The*gameHERs’ mission to amplify and center the voices of women, femme-identifying gamers, and non-binary gamers mirrors the goals of DePaul’s esports program so we are excited to collaborate as we both work to create a more inclusive community for all gamers.”

Additionally to establishing a network between campuses, the*gameHERs has gathered numerous influential supporters, including:

  • Lenovo
  • Evil Geniuses’ “Genius league”
  • Stay Plugged In
  • eFuse.

Representatives of the sponsors congratulated the*gameHERs and commented on the initiative. Lenovo’s global esports solutions manager Jeff Palumbo shared that his company believes society should be inclusive to all.

“Together with the*gameHERS, we’re providing more opportunities to women, femme-identifying and non-binary gamers to do more of what they love doing in a supportive environment,” Palumbo said.

Evil Geniuses’ chief culture officer Jessica Hammond emphasized the importance of diversity in collegiate leagues:

“Together, we look forward to providing college students from all walks of life with even more opportunities in esports and gaming, working towards a more diverse future for our industry.”

Stay Plugged In is known to support collegiate leagues. Taylor Gach, the company’s director of strategic partnerships revealed that providing the best collegiate programs to students is the driving force behind SPIN.

“Working with innovative partners like the*gameHERs opens a direct line of communication to female student-athletes interested in competing in esports and developing skills for future careers in the gaming industry. Our goal is to ensure that women are invited into a community that provides support and resources towards their educational aspirations.”

The esports ecosystem has been focusing a lot on women lately. The*gameHERs initiative is one of many to turn their attention to the underrepresented female gamer community. Another similar initiative has been the Women of Misfits. It is for sure that competitive gaming is on the path to becoming more accessible and inclusive to all.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
