- New images posted on Bilibili might hint at new dates for the game’s beta
- Battlefield insider makes claims on the dates
- GM Oskar Gabrielson explains the reasons behind Battlefield’s delay
Some new promotional images have surfaced on social media, which might hint at an upcoming announcement by EA and Dice.
BiliBili Gives Players a Sneak Peak of Battlefield 2042 (Allegedly)
Battlefield 2042 was supposed to be launched on October 22, but earlier this month it was delayed to November 19. Although Dice, the studio creating the game, promised fans it will keep them updated on anything upcoming, they have not yet announced officially when the beta for the game will be coming.
However, one well-known Battlefield insider by the name of Tom Henderson claimed the beta will begin on October 6 and some recently leaked promotional images might hint at that. The said images come from the Chinese live-streaming platform Bilibili.
Dice officially announced on September 15 that Battlefield 2042 would be delayed. A day later Henderson tweeted some new dates for when the game’s beta will commence, adding that these dates are yet to be sent to media and creators and are expected to be sent in the next couple of days.
And here comes the Bilibili connection. It seems that, according to a tweet from Henderson, the platform has seemingly leaked the new Beta dates.
While the promotional images confirm that there will indeed be something held from October 6 to October 9, it seems that this is some sort of bonus for streamers on the platform, that just happens to coincide with the launch of the beta.
Why Is Battlefield Taking Its Time?
It seems the COVID-19 pandemic has also thrown a spanner in the works for the studio. This was recently confirmed by DICE studio general manager Oskar Gabrielson.
He said that making the latest battlefield installment in the conditions of a global pandemic has created unforeseen problems for the developers. He explained that the teams hoped they would be back together in the studios as the game entered its final stages of development, yet the Covid situation has interfered with this.
Gabrielson added that it is much harder for teams to work from their homes as it poses communication and management challenges. This poses the need for the developers to take extra time to iron out any problems that inevitably arise with the development of any software.
He finished by saying that the fans’ enthusiasm and loyalty are inspirational for the studio and the dev team will do everything in order to deliver a good product.
