- Asmongold has been enjoying a lot of Lost Ark recently
- Some viewers have said he promotes gambling by playing the game
- The streamer responds to these claims
Asmongold once again strongly voices his opinions on things some of his fans criticize him for.
The Streamer Responds to Criticism
Asmongold has always been a streamer who is not too afraid to say what he thinks about some viewers’ opinions. Just recently he basted Elden Ring critics for not understanding customers’ mindset. However, his most recent criticism involved the MMO Lost Ark. Asmongold “slammed” viewers who kept on saying he promotes gambling by playing and streaming pay-to-win games like Lost Ark.
The game itself is one of the biggest MMO releases in recent history, smashing records left, right, and center. Asmongold, building his channel on WoW over the years, felt right on home turf playing the MMO. He seems to be enjoying the game but some fans have expressed concerns that big streamers like him should not be promoting gambling by streaming a game that is widely believed to have pay-to-win elements.
The conversation started when the streamer came across a Reddit post criticizing Asmongold for accepting in-game items from fans. “There are a lot of people who are just like I’m going to give Asmon an item because it’s funny, and I’m going to send him a message,” he explained, saying this is not such a big deal like most of the commentators criticized.
In a stream, Asmongold was keen to point out that his streams are to not be taken too seriously. “I want to remind everybody this is an entertainment show. This is not a political campaign. This is not a philosophical class. This is just an entertainment show,” he said.
Fans Not Happy with Response
However, when a fan left a donation message to raise their concerns about Asmon inadvertently promoting gambling by streaming Lost Ark, the streamer was having none of it. Exclaiming “You shouldn’t respect Twitch streamers in the first place,” he added that one shouldn’t be looking to Twitch streamers for any sort of morality.
“You shouldn’t be looking for an online entertainer to validate your moral views on the world,” Asmongold explained. “If you want to complain about something, why don’t you complain to the government, so they make it illegal? “
Asmon went in to explain in the stream that influencers don’t actually have that much power over this, despite the name. “People will always play the games if they are available. It’s the same reason why people still play slots now,” he added.
The streamer finished by saying that Lost Ark wouldn’t exist because there wouldn’t be enough players to rationalize its development if countries cracked down on gambling elements in video games.
