The latest 1047 Games financial round has landed $100 million in fresh funds to power the company’s flagship game, Splitgate, which is still in beta.
Splitgate Adds to Its War Chest to Power Game Experience
1047 Games has completed a fresh funding round worth $100 million for its flagship game, Splitgate. With the latest funding, Splitgate’s valuation has now reached $1.5 billion. The game has been able to clock in an estimated 13 million downloads across available platforms since it was released as an early access beta.
The news was published on Splitgate’s official Twitter with more information detailing the deal. Splitgate is advertised as a community-first game studio that operates independently and seeks to involve its fans in executive decisions.
Moving forward, Splitgate hopes that it can achieve a lot by hiring additional members of the staff who will be able to implement updates quicker and respond to community feedback. Bugs will be fixed faster thanks to the stronger workforce and the game itself will expand to offer support to more players and larger player bases.
Splitgate is also planning to branch off to other platforms that will prove an important move about the game’s further expansion. Even though Splitgate is making big strides forwards the game is in a continuing beta and 1047 has announced no plans to proceed to a full-scale release just yet.
Presently, the company offers Splitgate on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, and Splitgate has already missed its original release date set for July this year. For company CEO Ian Proulx, though, delaying the official launch was the right thing to do: “We are far from finished building out what we feel is the complete Splitgate experience for our loyal and dedicated fans.”
Splitgate has risen sufficient additional funding from partners to realize the company’s vision, Proulx explained. This funding, “enables us to focus on both our short-term growth needs and more importantly, our long-term vision for 1047 Games as a premier driver of completely fresh gaming experiences for fans,” the executive said.
