- Riot shared a teaser trailer, confirming the studio is working on the second season of its hit series
- The trailer suggests the show will continue the main cast’s story
- There are still many unknowns, like the release date and length of the show
Arcane just concluded this Saturday and was a huge success for Riot. The game studio has already confirmed there will be a season two of the show.
Riot Announces Arcane Season Two
Arcane is Riot’s first animated series, following the story of characters like Vi and Jinx, before they even step foot in the Summoner’s Rift. The show aired its nine episodes over in three individual arcs on three consecutive Saturdays, with the last one airing on Netflix on November 20.
The show’s been a huge success all around the world, topping Netflix charts in 50 countries and receiving praise from both critics and viewers. Fortunately for fans of the show and League of Legends in general, the animated series’ creators recently confirmed that season two is already in production.
A short teaser trailer was posted on social media, showing the show’s logo and a “2” alluding to the second season. Viewers can also hear the voices of Caitlyn, Jinx, and Vi, suggesting the show might continue to explore their stories. Arcane ended in a somewhat abrupt cliffhanger, so it is very possible that viewers will see any loose ends be tied up in the future.
What Else Do We Know About the Second Season?
Fans are eager to know when the new season is coming, however, no firm date has been announced at the time of writing of this article. However, the fact that the new season is already in production, it is very possible that a 2022 release date might be announced in the future.
The first season was already delayed because of the pandemic, according to Greg Street (also known as Ghostcrawler), Head of Creative Development for Riot Games. “Creative development and production is hard, especially in a world where you can’t see your coworkers IRL,” he said. Hopefully, the second season won’t suffer so much because of the world situation.
Arcane’s first season had nine episodes, each with a 40-minute runtime. Netflix or Riot have yet to confirm how long the second season will be, but it is not out of the question viewers will see a similar airing pattern.
Regarding the cast, it seems viewers will hear familiar voices voicing Arcane’s heroes since the trailer suggests the show will follow the already established character’s stories. Right now, some of the main cast goes as:
- Hailee Steinfeld as Vi
- Ella Purnell as Powder/Jinx
- Mia Sinclair Jenness as Young Powder
- Kevin Alejandro as Jayce Talis
- Katie Leung as Caitlyn Kiramman
- Molly Harris as Young Caitlyn
Riot has a tough task to match Arcane’s success with its second season. The studio has already announced they will be making more video content, following the show’s success, so it will be interesting if that will somehow tie in with Arcane.
