- It will be hosted right before the League of Legends World Championship 2023 finals

In an effort to generate more hype for the LoL Worlds 2023, Riot Games announced it will be hosting the Worlds 2023 Fan Fest at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.
Riot Announces Concert
Riot Games has always tried to extend the reach and impact of each year’s LoL World Championship by investing in different types of marketing and media. These could include anything from choosing a specific champion to receive a special Worlds skin which this year is Renekton, to launching the critically acclaimed animated TV series Arcane right at the end of Worlds 2022.
This year is no exception and the company recently announced a new project to generate more hype for the World Championship. Riot will be hosting the first-ever Worlds Fan Fest, a music event taking place during the final days of the event between November 16th and 18th at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, South Korea. It will feature world-famous DJ Alan Walker as well as K-rock band FT Island and K-pop group (G)I-DLE.
The World Fan Fest will be the first time that Riot Games creates an IRL open concert in support of the LoL World Championship. Interestingly, it would take place during the finals weekend of the World Championship, rather than before the start of the tournament, as one might expect to do if Riot wants to generate more hype for it. Also, the concert will not be located in the immediate vicinity of the Gocheok Sky Dome, which will host the Worlds’ finals, which also seems like a somewhat strange choice.
Despite that, Riot has lined up world-famous artists who are all connected to Riot Games in some way. Starting with Nicki Taylor, she sang the Worlds theme song Worlds Collide in 2015. Meanwhile, Alan Walker remixed the 2017 Worlds anthem Legends Never Die.
A few years ago, Riot revealed the virtual K-pop girl group K/DA, starring Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa. The voices of Ahri and Akali were provided by (G)I-dle members Miyeon and Soyeon respectively, while Madison Beer and Jaira Burns voiced Evelynn and Kai’Sa. Hardcore LoL fans would be glad to hear that all of these singers will also take part in the concert.
Last, but not least, the Worlds Fan Fest will host MUSHVENOM and F.T. Island, two more Korean artists. The former is known for songs released for Team Fight Tactics, such as the TFT Galaxies theme song “DUDUDUNGA”. However, the latter has yet to release their own song in collaboration with Riot and some fans are already speculating that this could be the band teased in the latest Pass announcement.
In conclusion, it seems that Riot is continually venturing out to new types of media and trying various things to raise the hype for each year’s World Championship.
