Verizon will now become the official internet service for the VALORANT and League of Legends games as the company renews its contract with Riot Games.

Riot and Verizon Continue Their Partnership. What Can We Expect?

The collaborated efforts of Riot Games and Verizon began June last year during the League of Legends regional league in North America. We can assume this cooperation proved beneficial to both companies as now they will be taking their agreement a step further.

Verizon now partners with Riot for the three annual LoL events. However, this time the telecommunications company will not limit its reach to League of Legends. Verizon will also support the currently growing VALORANT scene and will be featured in both the North America Challenger events and the four yearly majors.

Players will also benefit from this partnership. Through the Verizon Up rewards program, they will be able to get their hands on a variety of discounted digital goodies for League of Legends. Consumers will also be able to watch exclusive video content and broadcasts.

The Companies Share Their Thoughts on the Collaboration

Riot refused to disclose the financial details on their agreement with Verizon but promised it would have an impact on both League of Legends and VALORANT.

Yvette Martinez-Rea, the vice president of partnerships and sponsorships for Verizon, mentioned her company is delighted to work with Riot Games. She also hopes the 5G Ultra Wideband connection Verizon provides will dramatically improve player experience in both LoL and VALORANT.

Naz Aletaha, head of global esports partnerships and business development on Riot’s side, commented that her company envisions becoming a defining force in modern mind sports. Aletaha believes Riot’s tech-driven mindset will greatly benefit from the partnership with Verizon. The head said she takes pride in the renewed collaboration as she feels this proves Riot is doing things right.

Upcoming Events and the future of VALORANT

With this partnership secured, Riot is moving on with announcing the mid-season invitational for LoL and the VALORANT Masters. The first will take place between May 6 and 23, while the latter will follow up from 24 to 30 the same month. Both will be held in the Laugardalshöll Indoor Sporting Arena in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Speaking of VALORANT, Riot has been eager to define its first-person shooter entry as a major force in esports. It has now launched the VCT Game Changers initiative to extend support to player groups from marginalized backgrounds by providing them with mentoring and spotlight. Verizon is confirmed to be a partner in those efforts as well.

Aletaha concluded that she firmly believes Riot’s conviction and dedications are exemplary and will affirm VALORANT on the esports scene. She is convinced the partnership between Riot Games and Verizon is going to prove fruitful for both companies.
