  • Six more champions will receive cosmetics from the popular skin series
  • Nami will be the recipient of the new Legendary skin
  • The new skins will be released on October 10 with Patch 13.20

Following the leaks from a few weeks ago, Riot Games confirmed that new Coven skins are indeed coming to League of Legends very soon.

New Coven Skins Are Coming

League of Legends’ Coven skin line has been one of the most popular ones in the game, with many champions sporting the thematic look. First introduced in 2018, the line represents characters in a high-fashion witch queen aesthetic. Riot Games’ designers drew inspiration from works like The Witch, Game of Thrones, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, while the name “Coven” reinforces the theme of a witches’ meeting.

All of this has made the skin line very popular, and the fact that it features a limited number of champions, only makes the skins even rarer. Fortunately for fans, early September saw leaks suggesting the return of Coven skins very soon, this time with the addition of more characters. It turns out that this is true, as yesterday Riot Games announced on various social media channels that Coven skins are, in fact, going to be released on October 11.

The skins will be included in the in-game store just one day after the start of the League of Legends World Championship 2023 and will be up for grabs right away. It’s important to note that they are part of Patch 13.20, which is the one following the Worlds 2023 update, so we won’t see any of the competitors using them in matches.

This update brings a whopping six new champions to the high-fashion lineup – Elise, Akali, Syndra, Nilah, Nami (who will have a legendary variant), and Old God Mordekaiser. The early leaks also suggested that Syndra would be the one to get the Legendary skin, but as we can see in the trailer, Nami talking to the coven in a spooky tone makes it clear that she is the recipient of the special cosmetic.

Meanwhile, Mordekaiser’s skin is also a bit special in that it falls under the Old God skin collection, which is a part of the Eclipse universe. This is a series of alternate universe skins, featuring champions as monastic knights, forest inhabitants, evil witches, and gods of an old world. Mordekiser will also be the third male champion being added to the game, with Warwick and Malphite being the first ones before him.

The huge batch of six champions being added to the Covenant skin lineup makes the total number of characters with such skins to 17. Considering the series is very popular, chances are we will see more champions sporting the signature looks.
