Riot Games recently announced that registration for the Wild Rift Japan Cup is now open, with teams being able to register until March 25.
WJC is Now Accepting Teams
The League of Legends: Wild Rift Japan Cup (WJC) is one of the largest esports events in Japan and it will be kicking off soon, announced recently Riot Games. The event will also serve as the regional qualifier for the upcoming Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. It will feature a prize pool of 5 million Yen ($46,000) and will begin on April 8, lasting until May 9.
The main stage qualifiers will last two days, starting on April 2, where registered teams will compete for a slot in the main event. The registration for it has already opened and will continue to accept applicants until later this month. Interested teams and organizations can register on Wild Rift Esports Japan’s official registration page.
Both players and coaches are required to register on the official website. Additionally, every participant will need to set up their profile and submit the consent form after registering for the tournament. All this has to be done and submitted before the end date of March 25.
What’s the Tournament’s Format and Schedule?
As stated before, the qualifiers will start on April 2 and last for two days. The number of teams participating may be limited depending on the number registered.
The top six teams from the open qualifiers will proceed to the group stage on 9th April and compete in a double round-robin BO1 format, according to Liquipedia Wild Rift. Only the top four from that stage will win a spot in the WJC 2022 playoffs, which will commence on May 7 and last until May 9. The remaining teams will compete in a Single Elimination BO5 series for the semifinals while the grand finals will be settled in a BO7 series.
The winner of the Wild Rift Japan Cup 2022 will continue on to the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 group stage. The WJC runner-up team will instead go to the play-ins of the world championship.
