- Razork leaves Mistfits in favor of Fnatic
- The young player replaces Fnatic’s previous jungler Bwipo
- The organization hopes this change will improve the team’s chances after this year’s dissatisfactory results
After a difficult year, Fnatic is trying to rebuild itself, starting by signing a contract with Razork.
Razork Signs a Three-Year Contract with Fnatic
Fnatic has had some difficult months this season, failing to qualify for the PGL Stockholm, after suffering defeat at the hands of IEM Fall. That was Counter-Strike, but the same lack of success has been present in League of Legends. It looks like they have decided to rebuild again and are on the lookout for young talents. Among these is Iván “Razork” Martín, formerly of Misfits Gaming. The 21-year-old pro will be coming to Fnatic to replace Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau. Supposedly, according to the deal, Razork will be playing for Fnatic for three years.
Razork’s professional career started back in 2019 when he joined Misfits Gaming, playing as a jungler. He impressed his peers, viewers, and game analysts alike, eventually winning the 2020 LEC Spring Rookie of the Split award for his efforts. Despite this, he was not able to win a LEC championship in his time with the organization.
It is hoped that Razork’s playstyle will fit with the aggressive style Fnatic is known for. The team made itself known in the LEC for an extremely aggressive playstyle that revolved around their bot lane of Elias “Upset” Lipp and Zdravets “Hyllisang” Iliev Galabov.
Fnatic’s Antics
This year was not one of the organization’s best. They went through a multitude of changes to the player roster, with the replacement of Bwipo in favor of Razork being only the latest one. Not to mention the change in the coaching staff.
They had a decent early season, despite the many changes, but later in the year the problems stacked on top of each other, leading them to be unable to show their potential at the 2021 World Championship. Upset, the team’s AD carry, had urgent family matters and had to leave Iceland and the tournament. Fnatic’s struggle was even more exacerbated when combining Upset’s problems with Bwipo’s behind-the-scenes issues, leading the team to a not-so-great performance.
With Bwipo was rumored to be leaving in order to become Team Liquid’s new top laner, Razork will take his place for the next three years. There will be a lot of pressure on Razork, and it will be interesting to see how the newly changed roster will adjust as it battles for a spot at the top of the European mountain.
