  • Krafton is bringing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to life through a sequel of features and movies
  • Like most competitive games that started with a gameplay focus, PUBG is trying to find its unique story-telling voice
  • Actors Don Lee and Jonathan Frakes will appear across the features in different roles and try to help the PUBG franchise create a lasting legacy

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting new featured and live-action films starring Jonathan Frakes and Don Lee.

The PUBG Universe Comes to Life

Krafton has stood by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), as few other companies have by their titles. Continuing in this trend of support for the franchise, the company is now seemingly investing in the lore, hoping to flesh out lore for the battle royale game that exists on the simple Darwinian premise: “the fittest survive.”

The company showed that it sits atop the pecking order in India by reinstating the once suspended game, but it is now on a mission to create more compelling narratives.

Yet, every apocalypse has a backstory, and this is precisely what Krafton wants to talk about with Mysteries Unknown. The Birth of the Battlegrounds will be a featured movie that will call upon the talent of Jonathan Frakes, the Star Trek: The Next Generation, who will walk you through how the world went from a happy place to a dystopia.

The new episode comes as a continuation of Tragedy at Dinoland and Paramo and will star Frakes, who will discuss the game’s backstory with insiders and other community members. Krafton is upping the ante for the PUBG franchise, a game that started without an original backstory and focused on the player experience.

However, any game would need lore to truly evolve and root itself in the collective gaming knowledge. Both League of Legends and Dota 2 are following on the same path by releasing Netflix TV series that will hopefully create lasting storylines for the games.

Krafton is also moving ahead with Ground Zero, a live-action short film that will attempt to add more flesh to the game’s universe. Don Lee from Train To Busan will be playing the main role. His character, a prisoner at the Hosan Prison in TAEGO, will be trying to escape.

However, this escape is designed to fit in with the rest of the lore and help fans find an even more satisfying experience waiting for them in the PUBG universe.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
