Blizzard will support the LGBT community by hosting a charity tournament in Overwatch next month.

Overwatch to Host Pride Month Event

June is considered a month for raising awareness for members of the LGBT community and large companies are posting the rainbow banner on most of their social media and conducting events for the month. Not to be left behind, Blizzard also jumps the train as Overwatch recently announced a charity tournament to support the LGBT community. The game will also partner with Twitch Rivals to put on the show.

Starting next month on July 12, the so-called Overwatch Pride Celebration will feature a prize pool of $250 000. Overwatch staff has not yet explained many details about the event but it said team captains will be announced soon.

It’s still unknown what the prize money will be used for or how it will benefit the LGBT community, or what charities it’s going to. It is also not known what game will the event be held in, as it’s a month away (which is technically after pride month). The tournament could be played in either Overwatch 1 or Overwatch 2’s Beta, proving to be a good opportunity for Blizzard to promote Overwatch 2 which quickly lost 99% of its viewership just days after the release of the closed Beta.

The latter option will be the case if the beta is live at the time, but more information should be released in a livestream on June 16, where Blizzard is expected to reveal more details about the upcoming title.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
