  • Dallas Fuel and Seoul Dynasty have updated their coaching staff for the upcoming OWL season
  • Dallas Fuel has welcomed back their former player Rascal as an assistant coach
  • Seoul Dynasty has seen the return of tobi and WizardHyeong

Two Overwatch League teams – Dallas Fuel and Seoul Dynasty, have announced changes to their coaching staff ahead of the next competitive season.

Dallas Fuel Gets Rascal Back

The OWL franchise Dallas Fuel has decided to hire their former player Kim “Rascal” Dong-jun, this time as an assistant coach for the 2022 season.

Rascal began his competitive journey with a short-lived stint with London Spitfire. Then, he was admitted to Dallas Fuel but was eventually kicked out. According to the franchise’s owner, Mike “hastr0” Rufail, that happened because Rascal wasn’t very collaborative with the rest of the players.

Rascal’s career saw a drop as getting dismissed from Dallas Fuel saw him reduced to playing in the Overwatch Contenders league for a while as a part of NRG Esports. He eventually returned to the mainline OWL with a sting in San Francisco Shock and helped the team earn the champion’s title two times. Rascal moved to Philadelphia Fusion for 2021 and retired from professional play at the end of the season.

Rascal isn’t finished with competitive Overwatch, however, and has decided to become a coach instead. According to his words, he is incredibly excited to return to Dallas Fuel and work alongside the team’s head coach Yun “RUSH” Hee-won.

“As one of the greatest minds in Overwatch I think that working with him and the Fuel is a great opportunity to grow and continue my career,” Rascal said.

Seoul Dynasty Signs in WizardHyeong and tobi as Coaches

In a much similar fashion to Dallas Fuel’s decision to get a former player into a coaching position, Seoul Dynasty has gotten Yang “tobi” Jin-mo as a head coach.

Tobi has formerly played with the team for a whole three years. It wasn’t until 2021 that he decided to explore other options and have a one-season gig as a Philadelphia Fusion support player. Now he has chosen to “come back home,” this time as Seoul Dynasty’s head coach.

Tobi isn’t the only new coaching staff the franchise is getting. Former Dynasty coach Kim “WizardHyeong” Hyeong-seok will once again coach the team’s members.

The long-time assistant coach Mun “MMA” Seong-won will remain on board.

The next Overwatch season will see a lot of changes to the competitive scene, mainly because of the release of the game’s second iteration, Overwatch 2. Many teams have started preparing for what the new esports season will bring. LA Gladiators and Washington Justice made some important changes to their respective teams and coaching staff, while Vancouver Titans reset its whole team.
