- The support hero has been struggling since the launch of Overwatch 2
- She will finally receive changes that will see her shield become stronger
- Overwatch 2’s next season starts on April 11
Season 4 is expected to arrive next week with much-needed reworks for Brigitte, which will make her shield much stronger and have a stun with a wide area of effect.
Brigitte Will Receive a Rework
Overwatch 2’s Season 4 will be arriving next week, and with it, there will be a ton of new changes coming to the game, including a rework for Reinhardt’s apprentice Brigitte. The hero will be receiving a much bigger shield during her ultimate, as well as gaining a “fixed amount of recoverable armor,” and a boosted shield that can stun opponents.
“Next up, we’re looking to address Brigitte’s ultimate ability Rally to be more engaging and powerful when she is using the ultimate. Brigitte now gains a fixed amount of recoverable armor and powers her shield up with increased size and health, along with the ability to stun. So, when you hear her battle cry, get ready for some wild brawls,” wrote the Blizzard devs in a recent blog post, explaining Season 4’s changes.
Brigitte has been struggling since the launch of Overwatch 2 in autumn, and fans have been asking Blizzard to do something about it ever since. It’s nice to finally see Blizzard acknowledging the fans’ feedback. But one has to ask if the changes would be enough to bring the hero up to par.
Will the Hero’s Buffs Be Enough?
Brigitte mains will be delighted to hear that the hero’s stun is returning. Reports from testing the character’s abilities on a dev built on the game show that Brigitte’s stun is very wide and any hero hit by the massive shield will be affected. This means that the hero can stun multiple enemies at once but only for a brief time. It has to be noted that this can be done only during her ultimate, with her normal Shield Bash not receiving the stun buff.
Bringing back Bridgitte’s stun and shield, albeit not as strong as in Overwatch 1, marks a drastic change in Blizzard’s thinking. The game devs have been trying to cut back on shields and crowd control on OW2, so it would be interesting to see how the community reacts to the reworked ultimate.
Season 4 will bring a lot of changes to support, as a whole, so perhaps it’s natural that Brigitte should also receive a big buff. Speaking of support characters, Season 4 will introduce Overwatch 2’s new support, Lifeweaver, who is expected to shake up the current meta.
The new season launches next week on April 11.
