  • Omega Esports has been found guilty of match-fixing, resulting in a ban from all Valve-sponsored events
  • The team newcomers will be pardoned because of their short stay in the team
  • BOOM Esports will move to the first division, taking up Omega Esports’ slot

Filipino Dota 2 team Omega Esports has been banned from all Valve-sponsored events because of participation in match-fixing fraud.

Beyond the Summit Issues Ban to Six Omega Esports Team Members

Filipino Dota 2 esports team Omega Esports has found itself in trouble a few days prior to the next DPC season. The reason for this is that the team was found guilty of fixing its matches.

According to the official announcement by Beyond the Summit, the event organizer responsible for the Southeast Asia Regional League in the DPC 2021/2022 season, Omega Esports is now “banned from all Valve-sponsored events due to their engagement in match-fixing.”

The announcement continues that the ban extends to the esports athletes listed below:

  • Dave “Hiro” Hiro Mayata
  • Prince “Prince” Daculan
  • Patt “Piolz” Piolo Dela Cruz
  • Ryniel “Zenki” Keit Calvez
  • Van “Van” Jerico Manalaysay
  • Chris “CTY” Ian Francis Maldo

At the time of this ban, the off laner player Van was no longer a part of Omega Esports. While he will be removed from any official Dota 2 events, his new team, Team Execration, will not be incriminated and will be allowed to recruit another off laner.

In turn, Lee “Forev” Sang-don, Liew “Eren Jun Jie and Ramzi “Ramz” Bayhaki were found innocent because they officially joined the esports organization less than a week ago.

Notably, most of the players who were banned are a part of the previous rendition of Omega Esports’ roster. Still, some of the players, including coach CTY, Prince and Zenki, were a part of the organization’s latest lineup and would have played in the DPC regional league, had they been not found guilty of the fraud.

BOOM Esports Will Get the Vacant Slot

With the team leaving competitive Dota 2, a slot will be freed. Beyond the Summit’s announcement adds that the Indonesian esports organization BOOM Esports will be stepping in Omega Esports’ first division slot.

The second division slot that will be freed as a result will be given to another team. The latter will be selected through a close qualifier on November 26. The closed qualifier will feature the three teams that have been eliminated during the second open qualifier’s semifinals. Effectively, one team will receive a second chance of continuing into the regular season.

Since the second open qualifier is still ongoing, the three teams that will fight for BOOM Esports’ second division slot are yet to be announced.
