- OG’s offlaner Ceb might be missing The International 10
- The player was flown back to France because he urgently needed an eye surgery
- The surgery went well but it’s unknown if Ceb will recover on time for the big event
OG’s offlaner Sébastien “Ceb” Debs had to undergo an urgent surgery and might miss The International 10.
Ceb to Miss TI10 Because of an Urgent Surgery
Esports organization OG faces yet another hurdle with The International 10 as Sébastien “Ceb” Debs from its Dota 2 team may drop out because of health issues.
According to an official statement by OG, Ceb had to undergo urgent surgery. Ceb flew back to France. According to a release by Ceb himself, he was diagnosed with a retinal detachment in his left eye. If left untreated, the condition might have left the eye permanently blind in a few hours. Luckily, OG’s announcement claims that the operation went smoothly.
However, because of the medical procedure, Ceb might be unable to participate in The International 10. Whether this happens will largely depend on Ceb’s recovery and whether his doctor will decide if he is ready to take part in a competitive esports event or not.
In any case, OG will not cut any corners when it comes to its players’ health and will prioritize Ceb’s recovery to his participation in the esports tournament.
“No matter how much we love Dota, some things will always come first. It went well, and that was the most important part,” Ceb himself revealed.
The player admitted that he feels less-than-content with the current state of affairs. He hopes that he will recover in time in order to play with his team on the global event but isn’t quite sure whether he will manage.
MiCKe to Play in Ceb’s Stead
OG wished Ceb a speedy recovery. The organization has already found a stand-in for the player – Michael “miCKe” Vu will give his best to be a worthy replacement for Ceb if the latter doesn’t manage to return on time.
The first wind of this news was caught several days ago in a game between OG and beastcoast. During that play, Misha, OG’s new coach, filled in Ceb’s role. Additionally, miCKE was seen practicing a lot with offlane characters – usually Ceb’s specialty.
The news is quite unfortunate both for Ceb and for OG. The esports organization has been having an extra turbulent year with numerous failures and roster changes. OG failed to qualify for the two Major events and barely managed to secure a spot in The International 10 through the qualifiers.
Yet, despite its suboptimal recent performance, OG is a real powerhouse and a two-time TI winner. OG’s players hope to defend the champion’s title this year, but this may prove to be especially far-flung with CEB out of the picture.
