  • Massive Twitch leak reveals streamers’ earnings
  • Alinity advises aspiring content creators to not do it for the money
  • The streamer explains why it is hard to earn much on Twitch

After the October 6 Twitch leak that exposed top streamers’ income, many content creators came forward to comment. One of them was Natalia “Alinity” Mogollon, who explained that not everyone was ready for her line of work.

Alinity Explains Why One Shouldn’t Stream for Money

A couple of days ago, over 125GB of sensitive Twitch information leaked on 4chan, which revealed, among other things, what top streamers have earned from subscriptions since 2019. With the massive numbers present, some people might think that it is quite profitable to be a streamer.

Popular streamer Alinity explained in a series of tweets why people should not be fooled by the figures.

The 33-year-old streamer said that the leak should be proof that one shouldn’t become a streamer for the money, as few people make it. “I don’t think any of us that started before 2013 said, “Wow, I am going to press GO LIVE to be a millionaire,’ and neither should you.”, she wrote.

It is indeed hard to reach anywhere near Alinity’s 1.4 million followers. She backed her claims with some statistics, writing in another tweet that out of 8 million active streamers in Sept 2021, only 6,000 make minimum wage.

As the leaked info says, these earning are only from subscriptions, so Alinity adjusted her math, saying that if we double the subscription money, to also reflect money from donations and sponsorships, that still only makes about 7,500 streamers, who make minimum wage. This number is significantly lower than the top 1%.

Alinity’s YouTube Earnings

When a fellow Twitter user asked the streamer what she makes from YouTube, she said she does not really know how the rival’s platform is, however she suggested that it is probably the same, if not even worse.

“I have 100k subscribers on YT, and only make a few thousand a years.” she said, adding that YouTube is a good platform to bring people into Twitch, but not a great one for revenue.

That being said, it has to be noted that Alinity posts only one video per month on her YouTube channel, so it is normal revenue from that platform to be significantly lower than what she gets from twitch.

Overall, if one likes to stream just for fun or to their friends, then there is nothing bad about it. However, it is still rather hard to make it into a career one can live off of.

From our 5 star review…

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
