Armored Core 6’s detailed customization options have allowed players to create crazy contraptions, including replicating iconic mechs from other games.

Fan Unveils His Creation

Without a doubt, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon was one of the most anticipated games of this year. Its gritty sci-fi world, challenging bosses, the big “cool” factor, and its deep customization system have captured the imagination and attention of many players around the globe.

The game was so hotly anticipated, that it quickly became FromSoftware’s second-biggest PC launch. Now, less than two weeks after it hit the physical and digital shelves, AC6’s influence is starting to be felt in other franchises, and vice versa. The game’s detailed customization, in particular, has allowed players to experiment and try to recreate various other mechs and robots in AC6.

One such popular mech from another game is D.Va’s vehicle from Overwatch. The two-legged fighting machine has been a key part of the franchise ever since the launch of the original game back in 2016 and has since become synonymous with it, and it is often recognized well outside of Overwatch’s player base.

Considering the popularity of D.Va’s mech, it was just a matter of time before someone tried to recreate it in Armored Core 6, and it turns out, a player already did. Earlier today, a Reddit user by the name of toonlonk7 shared their creation on the Overwatch subreddit. Although the aesthetics of OW2 and AC6 are completely different, the former featuring a more “cartoonish” style with softer lines, while the latter sporting more industrial, “spiky” designs, one can clearly see the resemblance of D.Va’s mech in the FromSoft title.

The player included key visual features from the original inspiration, such as the bunny drawn on the side, as well as the bubblegum pink paint job and a green “abdomen” region, signifying where the cockpit on the original D.Va mech is. The mech’s creator even claims his invention plays nearly the same as the original inspiration.

Many other fans praised toonlonk7 for their work, some even saying that it looks like a mythic skin for D.Va. “We’re going to have to charge you another $20 for that,” they joked. Others have been inspired to recreate more characters from Overwatch. “This is sick. I might try to make an Orisa,” one player commented.

It’s clear that Armored Core 6 has been a huge success in no small part thanks to its detailed customization mechanics, and so it’s likely that we will see more iconic mechs from other games recreated into the action sci-fi title.
