  • Blizzard released a major patch for OW2 on October 13
  • It aims to address some of the many issues players have been experiencing since the launch
  • It also adds new maps and an XP boost system

The battle to fix all of Overwatch 2’s many issues continues with Blizzard’s latest patch that targets bugs with the Hero Gallery menu and the challenges.

Blizzard Releases New Patch

It’s been over a week since Overwatch made way for Overwatch 2 and the game still has many issues that need to be cleared up. The Blizzard title was plagued by a number of issues and bugs ranging from improperly working hero abilities, to players not being able to join the game, to hackers orchestrating mass DDoS attacks.

Although some of Overwatch 2’s issues can be attributed to the teething issues new games often experience, the fact remains that Blizzard has built the game quite literally on top of Overwatch, so it should have had ample time and forewarning to fix these issues. But the company has at least acknowledged the problems and has promised to fix them. This is already being done with the aid of many patches, 3.38 being the latest one released on October 13.

The patch is centered around fixing some of the many bugs Overwatch 2 is suffering from, but also adds a couple of new maps. It also makes some changes regarding player rankings and implements a boost to equalize those affected by this issue. The full patch notes can be found on Overwatch’s website, but here is a short preview of the most important ones:

Heroes and maps:

  • Zenyatta — No longer receives extra attack speed on top of the bonus from Kiriko’s ultimate.
  • Kiriko — Resolved an issue where ‘Yokai’ achievement was unattainable, and fixed a bug with Swift Step that could result in the player being placed under the terrain in some cases.
  • Numbani and Necropolis have been added back to their map pools.

  • Implemented a boost system for players who were ranked too low during the first week of Overwatch 2
  • Players who haven’t ranked will not experience this issue after this patch

  • Fixed an issue where Workshop Green Screen would load Workshop Island instead
  • Fixed a bug where Night Workshop maps were loading daytime variants

The patch also introduces a lot of fixes regarding bugs with the Report interface, adjusts prices for items in the Hero Gallery, addresses bugs regarding several challenges, and fixes some visual glitches. It’s safe to say that these changes are just the first of many needed to repair all of Overwatch 2’s issues. But the company has promised it will give much more attention to the game compared to its predecessor. Blizzard even offered free content in apology for the inconveniences many players have experienced since the launch of the game.

From our 5 star review…

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
