  • League of Legends: Wild Rift becomes the first mobile game to be featured on ESL Premiership
  • The tournament will have open qualifiers in three countries and a prize pool of about $7000
  • Starting April 20, a live stream will be available on ESL’s LoL channel on Twitch

With portable gaming on the rise, ESL features a mobile game for the first time by adding Riot’s Wild Rift to their Premiership tournament series.

Wild Rift Gets a Premiership Tournament by ESL

The Electronic Sports Leagues (ESL) is a company popular for hosting many esports events. And, although the company has graced fans of several gaming communities with tournaments, Wild Rift is the first mobile game they will be partnering with for the Premiership campaign.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is Riot’s mobile incarnation of their most popular title, League of Legends. It continues the trend of seeking to bring up mobile gaming on par with PC and consoles. Riot’s popularity and capabilities have been successful in doing that – Wild Rift has already had several tournaments although the upcoming ESL Wild Hunt Premiership will be one of the first such in Europe.

The ESL Premiership is a long-running tournament series in the UK and Ireland region. However the region has been specially expanded to include the Nordic countries for the Wild Rift event. Open qualifiers will be held in the Nordic countries, UK and Ireland with the registrations currently ongoing for anyone interested in the $7000 prize pool.

The two qualifiers will take place during the 3-4 April weekend. Each day four teams will advance for the ESL Wild Rift Premiership Spring. So, in the end, a total of eight teams will play in a round-robin format. The finals will take place in June 19 and 20.

The tournament will be held completely remotely with all the audience watching on ESL LoL’s official Twitch channel that will stream the event starting April 20.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
