  • Riot Games teased the event back in December
  • The company has not revealed an exact schedule and where to watch the event
  • Some leagues have teased hosting the event, but not much else is known

League of Legends’ Season 13 is starting on January next week with the 2023 Kickoff Event, but Riot has yet to reveal a detailed schedule for it.

Details Are Still Unknown

As the new year rolls around, League of Legends fans and professional teams alike prepare for the upcoming competitive season. Just like many other seasons in the past, Season 13 is supposed to start with a kick off event, but as it approaches, many are still confused about the details of the event.

Back in December, Riot Games published news of a tournament called “Kickoff Event for 2023 season” which is planned to take place next week between January 10 and 11, the same time as Patch 13.1 will be rolled out. However, despite the event being just around the corner, Riot has not revealed when exactly or where it will be broadcast.

The event is supposed to replace the previous All-Star events, which took place during the Holiday season. Previous events gathered teams from all around the world to participate in one event, but the 2023 Kickoff Event should feature multiple events in the scene’s various regions.

So What Do We Actually Know?

Details are still sparse even though the event is supposed to start in less than a week. Most of the information we have available comes from the article Riot Games posted in December. What becomes clear is that all major leagues should host it. “From January 10-11, 2023, the LCS, LEC, LCK, LPL, LJL, CBLOL, LLA, PCS, and VCS will host a special two-day broadcasted event previewing the 2023 season and highlighting players to watch,” the article reads, ”giving fans a first look at Season 2023 on the Rift, and a peek at what’s in store for LoL Esports.”

The leagues themselves have not revealed much information either. Although some of them have hinted at hosting the event last month, others have yet to release any information on it. The latter group includes two of the biggest leagues – the LCS and LEC – both of whom have not mentioned the event at all.

But even the leagues that have teased they will be hosting the event, have not revealed any details about it. Many fans are starting to wonder if the event is going to be canceled in some regions and the lack of transparency has been heavily criticized.

Perhaps more information about the event will be revealed later this week because Riot doesn’t have much time left before the scheduled start of the Kickoff Event 2023.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
