  • LCL top organization Unicorns of Love has decided to lay off its roster and start anew
  • The organization has made this decision after failing to leave a mark on the global scene
  • The former Unicorns members were advised to seek new opportunities on the more competitive European scene

LCL leader Unicorns of Love has once again failed to translate its success onto the global scene. The organization will try once again with a new roster.

Unicorns of Love Dismisses All of Its Current Players

Professional esports organization Unicorns of Love will be saying goodbye to its entire League of Legends lineup following an underwhelming performance at the LoL World Championship 2021.

Unicorns of Love are a part of the League of Legends Continental League (LCL) – the professional League of Legends league in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The team was a force to be reckoned with – it has the impressive five LCL wins in a row and is an undisputed leader on the CIS stage. Yet, for all of their regional wins, the players have never quite managed to fare well against their international competitors.

At this year’s still undergoing World Championship, Unicorns of Love have won but a single game out of their four total matches. Despite barely scoring a victory against Cloud 9, the team’s otherwise suboptimal performance got it eliminated from the tournament.

In the wake of this, the Unicorns of Love higher-ups decided it is time for a change.

The Future for Both the Org and the Players

On October 11 the organization dismissed all of its players. It will search for new players in an effort to reach international success.

“We accept the fact that players need constant development and, winning everything in the LCL for three years, it’s time to move to the next level,” Unicorns of Love announced.

This turn of events is rather unfortunate for the now-former Unicorns of Love players, four of which have been a staple in the organization for the last two years. Those include Vladislav “BOSS” Fomin, Kirill “AHaHaCiK” Skvortsov, Lev “Nomanz” Yakshin, and Aleksandr “SaNTaS” Lifashin. The team’s last member, Andrey “Argonavt” Yakovlev, joined the organization this June.

The esports organization believes that the players’ promising talent is yet to fully bloom. It encouraged them to seek new opportunities beyond CIS and reorient their efforts towards the wider European scene, the EU Masters, and the League of Legends European Championship.

It is curious to see if the players will heed this advice and embark on a journey to the European competitive scene or will prefer to stay in their familiar waters in CIS. Regardless of their loss at Worlds, their impressive local track record will make them appealing to anyone who’s looking for a new roster.

In the meantime, Unicorns of Love has confirmed it will remain competing in professional League of Legends esports. The org will now search for a new roster of players, which will likely be announced soon.
