As the LCS’s first game looms, Team Liquid are still the heavy favorite, with the team sporting a solid squad that has performed during the last season and was strengthened by fresh talent as recently as November. However, we have witnessed a small closing of the odds between the two teams, indicating that bookmakers are still not too certain how to price the game.

Team Liquid – Betting Preview

After taking a drubbing at the 2023 World Championship, Team Liquid has been determined to swing back to its old form. The team has a number of high-performing players in the LCS, including Yeon who was distinguished as Rookie of the Year for 2023 and who is still on Liquid’s active roster.

The team’s wild horses are Impact and UmTi who joined the team in November, but have been showing consistent performance, distinguishing Team Liquid as a well-oiled machine coming into the new season and determined to win in their first game against 100 Thieves. The team will have to play again on Sunday when it will face off against SR.

So far, Liquid does look the stronger of the two teams in the games against 100 Thieves, owing mostly to the individual performance of its players. This doesn’t mean an upset may not be on the way, however.

100 Thieves – Betting Preview

Historically, 100 Thieves are not in a bad position at all. In terms of head-to-head wins, 100 Thieves actually remains the favored based on historical data. They have won 14 games against Team Liquid’s 9. Yet, for those who remember the LCS Summer Regular Season and Playoffs, Team Liquid continuously dominated and won over their opponents from 100 Thieves, although the games were indeed highly contested through and through.

100 Thieves have definitely taken the lull between seasons to change their team, replacing their head coach with Goldenglue and bringing Kaimera as head analyst and Spookz as strategic coach.  The issue with 100 Thieves is they have way too many new players, with Sniper, River, Meech and Eyla all joining in November, and Quid the only one to join in mid-2023, and practically the “oldest” member. They have not had an official game as a unit since the team was formed, and this inexperience and lack of actual competitive environment has been cited as their poorer chances.

It doesn’t help that the players on 100 Thieves’ roster are only now starting to climb the professional League of Legends leaderboard, and have small earnings form official competitions. Can they prove a wild horse? We will see on Saturday.

Conclusion

All in all, Team Liquid are the more experienced team featuring the stronger overall participants. They are still rookies but have a notable and consistent track record whereas 100 Thieves’ new roster is yet to prove itself in battle. This alone will incline most smart bettors to scoop up a bet on the favorite here, especially when the odds are 1.41 right now.
