  • League of Legends-inspired Riot Games series Arcane is coming out this fall as a Netflix Original
  • The series will set the world of Runeterra, the League of Legends realm which Riot is beginning to flesh out across all of its games
  • Dota: Dragon’s Blood beat Arcane to the punch as the latter had to be delayed due to the pandemic.

Riot Games’ Arcane animated series is coming out this fall as a Netflix Original and featuring two of the core League of Legends heroes, Jinx and Vi.

Runeterra Comes to Live in Riot Games x Netflix Series

In the beginning, there was Dota 2 and then League of Legends followed. Years after Dota 2’s Netflix Original, Dragon’s Blood came around, and sure enough, Riot Games made sure to jump on the same segment.

Actually, the League of Legends animated series, Arcane, has been in development for nearly two years now, and we finally have a trailer that dropped on the streaming platform earlier today. And to be perfectly honest, Arcane should have been coming out last year, but development was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trailer may be a bit of a stretch, as Riot Games really only released a teaser that confirmed several things for the community nevertheless. Arcane is indeed a Netflix exclusive and it will be coming out in the fall.

Both Jinx and Vi were briefly featured in the teaser in previously unseen footage, with Riot playing it pretty close to the chest not to let on more than it thinks is right.

Riot Games Seeks to Enhance Story Telling of Its Universe

Well, the company is doing something right because the community seems to love it and the hype train has long left the station, picking up new passengers from now to the release date, which is still under wraps.

The plot will unfold in Zaun and Piltover, the characters’ home places with Riot Games continuing to flesh out details about its world that it has been developing in other games, including Legends of Runeterra and its MMORPG project.

Arcane is a story of origins for both characters and a potential clash between the two in the continent of Runeterra against which Riot seems to be casting much of its story-telling moving forward.

Dragon’s Blood was rated 8.1/10 and received 9,792 votes on IMDb. It would be fun to see if Arcane can beat this.
