  • Midlaner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon renews his contract with the organization
  • He is joined by Peyz, as well as three new players
  • Gen.G also completely revamped their coaching staff, bringing aboard KIM and two helpers

After many days of speculations surrounding Gen.G’s future, the Korean organization announced a new League of Legends team centered around star midlaner Chovy.

Gen.G Reveal New Roster

Gen.G fans have been waiting impatiently over the past couple of weeks to see what their favorite team’s League of Legends roster for the next competitive season would look like. Now that the wait is finally over as the Korean organization revealed it has constructed an impressive team centered around star midlaner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon.

It was unknown if Chovy, who played for Gen.G during 2022 and 2023 would renew his contract, but it seems he has decided to do exactly that, becoming the focal point of the team. He is joined by bot laner Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan, who has been a part of the organization since 2020 and made the jump to the main team following the 2022 season.

The team is completed with three new arrivals – jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, support Son “Lehends” Si-woo, and top laner Kim “Kiin” Gi-in. However, the staff has also seen some changes as the organization’s new head coach will be former T1, Bilibili Gaming, and DRX captain Kim “Kim” Jung-su, who will bring a lot of experience from these top teams. He will be helped by Kwon “Helper” Young-jae and Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong.

What Happened to Gen.G’s Previous Roster?

It has been an interesting couple of weeks for the organization, a time which was filled with many unknowns as to what the future holds, as Gen.G parted ways with three of its players on November 21. The same day also saw the departure of the previous head coach Go “Score” Dong-bin, along with his two assistants Won “Mafa” Sang-yeon and Kim “Museong” Moo-seong.

However, rumors quickly spread that Gen.G is rebuilding around Chovy, who by this point was yet to renew his contract for the upcoming competitive League of Legends season. To the delight of many fans, these rumors turned out to be true, and Chovy will once again help the team reach new heights.

Gen.G performed well in 2023, winning the LCK Spring and Summer Splits, but unfortunately fell to Bilibili Gaming in the lower bracket semifinal of the Mid-Season Invitational. This happened again in the quarterfinals of the 2023 World Championship, which resulted in the organization deciding to rebuild.

This resulted in the departure of top laner Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon, jungler Han “Peanut” Wang-ho, and support Yoo “Delight” Hwan-joong last week. Since then, the trio joined Hanwha Life where they might be able to play against their former organization at some point.
