  • PSG Talon signs the South Korean player ahead of the 2022 PCS Summer Split
  • This is part of the organization’s efforts to restructure after failing at the Mid-Season Invitational
  • Gori has already had a very interesting career despite becoming a pro only last year

PSG Talon is restructuring after releasing several players last week by signing former FunPlus Phoenix mid laner Kim “Gori“ Tae-woo.

Talon Signs Gori

Many organizations are busy preparing for the 2022 PCS Summer Split, and PSG Talon is one of them. The org’s most recent acquisition is former FunPlus Phoenix mid laner Kim “Gori“ Tae-woo, who Talon signed after releasing several players last week. Now that the team is missing key players, Talon is trying to rebuild, starting with Gori.

The reason for Talon’s mid-season rebuilding is perhaps the fact the organization did not manage to advance past the rumble stage of the Mid-Season Invitational last month. Following the tournament, Talon released mid laner Bay and jungler Juhan.

The duo played just one split for the organization before being replaced heading into the second half of the 2022 season. Talon won the PCS for the third straight split but is still looking to make improvements.

Gori’s Short but Interesting Career

The new contract with PSG Talon is an important opportunity for Gori to return to the heights he reached during the second half of the 2021 season. Last summer, the player received the Split award. This is an award given to the player with the most Player of the Game recognition.

This year has not been so kind to Gori, however. The South Korean player joined FPX in December 2021, making the move to the LPL. He played only six weeks with the organization before being benched during the final stretch of the Spring Split following a four-match losing streak incurred by the team. He was replaced by Care, who helped FPX win four of their final five matches of the regular season. Despite these changes, FPX still suffering a first-round playoff exit to Edward Gaming.

Now, PSG Talon will be Gori’s third team in as many splits. Despite only being a pro player since 2021, Gori has already had an interesting career, having represented teams like Nongshim RedForce, FunPlus Phoenix, and now Talon – all teams from three different regions.

Gori will make his debut with PSG Talon at the PCS when it returns to play later this month.
